Wynnum Cricket Nets

A new sports lighting system for the Wynnum cricket nets was designed to ensure the required lux levels of Class II training were achieved. With a mindfulness of the surrounding residential properties, the design ensured there were no incidences of spill lighting onto the adjacent properties. Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club are thrilled with the final result and all players are loving the upgraded nets and we hope it will be integral in the foundation for our next test cricket champion.

Cooroora Football Club

 In 2021, Becentia Consulting Engineers (formerly Alight Consultants) were set the challenge to provide a lighting upgrade to the two existing football fields at Cooroora Football Club in Cooroy. The site required the reuse of the existing poles in a non-standard arrangement with detailed control of the lighting angles due to the close proximity of the adjacent houses. The team were able to deliver a compliant lighting solution with no changes to the existing pole arrangement. 

Sunshine Coast Hockey Field Lighting

Becentia Consulting Engineers delivered the design for the Sunshine Coast Hockey Field LED Lighting Upgrade in 2021, replacing the existing field lighting with a modern, energy-efficient LED system. The upgrade improved lighting performance and uniformity across the playing surface while reducing energy consumption and ongoing maintenance requirements. The project enhanced the facility's capability to support training and competition activities in accordance with contemporary lighting standards. The project utilised the existing poles and maintained compliance with AS4282. 

Pinkenba Sports Precinct – Feasibility Study

In October 2024, Becentia Consulting Engineers were commissioned to provide a preliminary lighting design and an outdoor lighting impact study for a proposed sports precinct in Pinkenba. This detailed assessment was required due to its proximity to the Brisbane Airport. The outcome of the design and assessment confirmed that compliant, safe, and environmentally responsible lighting can be achieved for the pickleball, padel ball and beach tennis courts, as well as the associated car park. It also provides evidence that the design can achieve the required illumination levels and uniformity while effectively managing spill light, glare and upward light. The assessment also considers potential obtrusive lighting impacts on the adjacent parkland, which may serve as a fauna movement corridor. Overall, the findings indicate that a compliant and environmentally considerate lighting solution is achievable.
